PLAN

• Return the completed School Response to Program Headquarters by FAX or email as soon as possible.
• Designate a school “contact person” to communicate with the program field representative; receive program materials from Program Headquarters; and act as the Event Coordinator..
• Review the school calendar. Plan to hold Drive for the KidsTM in conjunction with a planned activity that’s popular with families and attracts maximum parent participation. The school’s major fundraiser such as an ice cream social, carnival, or fair are all good choices.
• Form a team of parent volunteersto plan the event, handle publicity and work on event day.
• Plan for fun and profit. See the Event Planning Guide. Consider suggested add-ons for conducting a smooth and profitable Drive for the KidsTM event
• A field representative, assigned to your school, will make this the easiest fundraiser ever.
  - Acting as liaison between the school and the dealership to schedule and conduct the fundraiser. - Advising parents how to plan and promote for a successful event. - Attending the event to: select the best site for the vehicles and a safe driving route; supervise the driving activity; and manage program materials and   paperwork.

PUBLICIZE

• Set a goal of 100+ drives The amount of money raised for the school depends on the number of drives. There is no limit to the number of drives or Chrysler’s contribution. It’s up to you.
• Get the word out to parents, teachers and the community. Let everyone know that a lot of money can be raised for the school in a short time ― $1,300 or more in 4 hours or less.
• Publicity materials are provided: posters; clip art and suggested copy for flyers and newsletters; a CD with program art that can be easily reproduced; press releases; and promotional ideas and suggestions.

WORK THE EVENT

• Enlist parent volunteers to work with the field rep on event day.
  - Act as greeters and encourage other parents to drive - Check driver’s licenses and help with paperwork - Act as safety patrol. Help direct traffic. Keep an eye on kids in the driving area. A good job for dads! - Manage child care, “Drawing for Drivers”, or other planned add-on activities.  *The Event Planning Guide has safety guidelines and tips for promoting drives at the event.
• After the event,work with the field rep and dealership personnel to be sure the site is left clean.
• Have a parent or teacher available to complete the School Event Evaluation; count surveys; and complete the Contribution Voucher required to process Chrysler’s contribution to the school.
